How do I prepare for my spray tan?
- A great tan starts with a good foundation. Not only will this make your tan look better, it will help it last longer. And who doesn't want that?
- Exfoliate at least 24 hours before your appointment. This step is key to ensuring your tan applies evenly and will help it last longer.
- Do any hair removal 24 hours before your appointment.
- Avoid using bar soaps and Dove products.
- Skip the moisturizer, deodorant, and makeup the day of your appointment. This will help ensure your skin is free from anything that can create a barrier and interfere with the tanning solution. I always have makeup wipes available if needed.
- Wear or bring dark, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment.
How can I make my spray tan last longer?
- You can help ensure your tan lasts for as long as possible by taking these few steps:
- Wait 8-12 hours to shower, workout, or sweat. This allows your tan to fully develop.
- Use gentle sulphate free shower gels or soaps. Avoid Dove products.
- Avoid loofahs or other harsh exfoliators.
- MOISTURIZE every day! This is key to ensuring your tan lasts as long as possible (up to 10 days).
- Remember, spray tan solutions do not contain SPF. So always remember to apply your sunscreen and re-apply throughout the day if needed.
Iām going on vacation. When should I book my tan?
- The answer? 1-3 days before any special event is great; however, 2 days before is the most ideal. That gives your tan optimal time to develop so you're golden and glowing on your big day.
- If you've never had a spray tan before, I suggest doing a trial run a few weeks in advance.
- Do you have any special events coming up? With summer, and wedding season fast approaching, my schedule will be booking up fast so make sure you book in soon!
When can I shave/remove hair after my spray tan?
- Wait at least 8 hours, ideally 24 hours before doing at-home hair removal.
- If shaving, please use an oil-free moisturizing body wash, not traditional shaving creams as those may contain harsher ingredients that can strip your spray tan.
Do spray tans provide sun protection?
- Spray tans do not contain SPF. So always remember to apply your sunscreen and re-apply throughout the day if needed.
